This man is no Santa Claus

Ah Canadians, we love them so much. They’re masters of sketch comedy, they invented hockey, and they do wacky things when they’re drunk. Which is all the time. (Must be why they’re so good at the comedy.)

From the Great White North comes the tale of an Ontario man who, in a drunken stupor, tried to climb down a chimney and got stuck for five hours until he was rescued. Police said the 35-year-old man stepped visiting a friend’s cottage stepped outside to take a leak, but got confused in the darkness and returned to a neighboring cottage where no one was home. Unable to get in the house, he did what any of us would do if you’re drunk and Canadian and locked out of a house — he climbed up on the roof and tried to come down the chimney.

Workers at a house nearby heard his cries for help the next day and the man was rescued. Best of all, there were no charges, because the police said since there was no “criminal intent.” No, just intent to commit grand idiocy.
