I have to say I had sort of given up on humanity’s ability to come up with any more good ideas, but this is freaking brilliant. A scientist in North Carolina has developed a donut with caffeine in the mix.

According to the AP, Robert Bohannon, who is a molecular biologist, has come up with a way to add the life giving nectar to any baked good without the bitter taste that usually accompanies caffeine. In a story at LiveScience, the scientist (should I start calling him God now?) said he worked with flavoring experts to find a way to mask the taste.

But, the best part of all: You get the equivalent of two cups of coffee in each donut. Two jolts of black gold for each cruller, what a deal. And considering I’d probably be having a cup of coffee or two while chomping down a couple of these beauties, well that would set me up just fine for the morning.

I love science.
