I’m pretty much convinced now that everyone under the age of 25, for whatever reason, feels it necessary to take nude photos of themselves or to video tape themselves performing sex. Maybe it was always this way, but before now we didn’t have the Interweb to make those photos public. And even with the existence of a global communications network, this wouldn’t be a problem if people would just keep those photos locked down on their hardrives. But again, for whatever reason, they can’t seem to do that.

Case in point: A police officer in Australia is under investigation after he forwarded topless photos of his girl friend, also a police officer, to his buddies on the force. Apparently she took the photos for him as a “get well” message, which seems like an awfully nice, though maybe misguided, gesture, so why did this blockhead have to show them to his mates? And why did he have to forward them through the internal police e-mail system?

The Victoria state police are now conducting an investigation to see whether he committed any ethical violations. I don’t know whether the code of conduct for police officers includes anything about forwarding lewd photos of your girl friend, but I’m pretty sure she would say he’s committed some kind of ethical breach here.
